Thoughts on Dramas

Some quickie thoughts on dramas I’ve been spreeing through lately — Queen Seon Deok, The Princess’ Man, In Time With You, and Startling By Each Step. Gotta love winter break for all the time it gives me to catch up on dramas…

As inspired by f’s post (see here)
But please note that I am terrible at describing anything in any shape or form, so most of everything I’m saying is pretty inadequate…the songs definitely aren’t though!

I’m having a giant freakout, but it’s ok(ish).

Woohoo it’s 6am and I can’t fall asleep, mostly because I’m having a freak out over my classes and not wanting to bio major and trying to decide if I should weasel out of taking Genetics, just take Intro Bio, and not-bio-major. But anyways, aside from that, started watching Protect the Boss, and I love it already. (I’m only 12 minutes into it too, what the…)

Best scene ever–

Back home

August 9, 2011 / 2 Comments

I’m back home from Taiwan! Still incredibly jetlagged – I’m currently surviving off a bottle of Starbucks Mocha Frappuccino, but, some bullet points on my trip:

  • It was a really weird trip…I left my iPod charger at home, the memory card to my camera (so no pics, derp), and then I left my cell phone in the hotel room in Taiwan (someone’s bringing it back for me thank god lol), and also the keyboard to my netbook literally fell apart in my Dad’s backpack on the way back home.
  • Bought so many pens – pilot pens and muji pens, ahhh I can’t restrain myself from stationery stores.
  • Also, my love for Taiwanese book stores is endless. Why are they just so much better than American bookstores? Even the way they showcase books…I actually look at the sections most people here consider “uninteresting” and get shoved in the back of stores. Especially psychology books! And the sad part is most of them are actually translated from English…
  • The food was delicious. I love love love being able to go out and get the yummiest food for around just $1 USD.
  • I had a lot of fun this trip, especially because I knew a ton of people who were back in Taiwan the same time as me this year. (So many people, I guess this year was just really popular?) I actually went to more places than my Dad, which is pretty incredible, since usually I always just go wherever my Dad goes…yep, I feel accomplished. :)
  • People in Taiwan never sleep. Like, ever. I was leaving the hotel around 4:30am to go to the airport for our flight back, and there were still people outside and stores still open (that weren’t convenience stores). Also, it seems like people in Taiwan never work either. There’s always crowds wherever you are – I seriously wonder what all these people do with their lives.
  • For some reason this year I got really sensitive to all the staring from Taiwanese people…I pretty much wear tank tops and shorts there because the temperatures there are like sitting in an oven, but it’s sort of a cultural thing not to wear tank tops. Or shorts, even. But it’s like sitting in an oven there, honestly, if I don’t wear tank tops and shorts there then when am I supposed to? Also it doesn’t help that I’m sure most people there think I’m fat. :| People there are so skinny it’s like wrong alskjdflajsdlf.
Anyways, time for me to get back to reality. Cry. I think I might have a panic attack soon thinking about school this year but um, yes. At least I have a short break before it starts (gulp).

Boredom ensues.

Yay my normal layout is back! (Though I doubt anyone noticed, lol.)

Anyways! It’s summer and I’m incredibly bored (I should be studying whaaa oh well), so recommend me some books and music?

Hm, taste wise, my two favorite books are Norwegian Wood and The Time Traveler’s Wife. (I’ve read other Haruki Murakami novels, but his fantasy style doesn’t appeal to me as much as his “ordinary” style in Norwegian Wood.) Also lovelovelove Harry Potter but I don’t think that really helps with book recs…Harry Potter is impossible to match, aha.

Music wise I’ll pretty much give anything a shot? Currently I can’t stop listening to Adele and the soundtrack from The Borrower Arrietty - I’d love more recommendations for beautiful OST music. My last.fm’s here if you want to look at it too.  If you recommend me some music, I can recommend you some music back too yeeeey. I love sharing music recs :D

Also – added a new goal to my summer list (well, it’s more like a long-term goal, but I should get started): start paying attention to the news (health and social issues mostly). Haaaaaa. Time to bookmark the Time website, sigh.
